Tony Hamer & Sons Ltd: for all your haulage requirements!

Tony Hamer & Sons Ltd aims not only to serve our customers with commitment and professionalism but also to conduct our business so that we always come up to the standards that our customers have come to expect of us.

Tony Hamer & Sons Ltd are a highly successful general haulier and merchant of building and decorative aggregates.

Tony Hamer moved into haulage in 1964 when he decided to leave the family farming business. The first three years were spent working for Tern Hill Sand & Gravel, a local company, running a single lorry delivering aggregates.

In 1968, Tony bought a B Licence, allowing him to carry other goods with now two vehicles, a Bedford TK and a Ford Trader.

As work increased, the size of vehicles was getting larger, with Tony buying, at the time, 2 Dodge 6-wheelers. Adding lime spreading to the business, he delivered and spread lime to the local area to the present day. Vehicles changed to 2 Leyland Reivers 6 wheelers before moving onto Artics to cope with the work demand moving salt with a contract with ICI. In addition to the tippers, the Company now moved into Curtain siders and Tipper trailers to carry a variety of palletized and bulk goods, i.e. nursery plants, timber, baled sawdust, electrical goods, food and aggregates, which is still being done to the present day.

In addition to our own fleet, we call upon a range of sub-contractors to help cover the work in peak seasons.

We carry a wide range of building and decorative aggregates and offer a nationwide transport service for various industries. We are incredibly proud of our reputation for a reliable and cost-effective service, proven by our growing customer base and dramatic growth in trading.

Our fleet of specialized vehicles is fitted with an onboard weighing device to ensure the maximum allowed payload is achieved. Sheets are also fitted to keep loads covered and secure.

All our drivers are trained to a high standard, including a driver CPC and health and safety guidance. All drivers are EPIC and NVQ trained for the quarry industry, and all training is updated regularly.
